A PLAYFUL JOURNEY THROUGH CHILDHOOD MEMORIES AND HIDDEN VULNERABILITIES.

︎Dream:

Went swimming in the pool with my childhood friends sami and jordan (we were children). I was AMAZING at swimming. Took a ballet class and people from the Berkeley ballet theatre were there (now I’m normal age). Ran into ryan my childhood crush on the side of the road . His tire had glass in it that got smashed. The whole middle school gang was there. Saw Adrian my boyfriends best friend at the park at what I assume was San Francisco boys chorus day camp. Overheard him telling the kids he’s applying to art school. Chatted with him. He was surprised I cry a lot because my eyelashes are long. I asked him if I was a baddie. He confirmed. He showed me his dentures (he has no teeth). He told me the story of how he got his dentures. It took 9 minutes and at the last minute can I take you out. I gave him feedback on his joke that he should say it takes 3 minutes and go into each of the minutes so there’s more of a set up to his joke. Analyze this dream and what it means about me

︎Analysis

Swimming with Childhood Friends:
Swimming, especially being amazing at it, reflects navigating your unconscious with ease. Water often symbolizes emotions and the unconscious in Jungian psychology. As a child, you may have felt more connected to your instinctive, intuitive side (which you’re excelling at in the dream). The presence of childhood friends suggests that you are reconnecting with earlier aspects of yourself—particularly the playful, innocent parts of your identity that might still influence your current self.

Ballet Class and Berkeley Ballet Theatrel:
Ballet can represent balance, discipline, and an exploration of beauty and aesthetics, which aligns with your creative and artistic nature. In the dream, the fact that you’re taking this class at your current age suggests that you are actively working on refining and cultivating this side of yourself. The presence of dancers from a prestigious ballet theatre could symbolize an aspiration toward mastery or artistic expression that you're consciously pursuing in your waking life.

Running into Childhood Crush & Middle School Gang:
Encountering your childhood crush, especially with a broken tire (glass in it), may symbolize unresolved emotions or past relationships that have left a mark on your psyche. The tire being smashed could represent obstacles or setbacks related to relationships from your past, and your mind might be processing these early formative dynamics. The presence of your middle school group might signify your desire to integrate those memories into your current self or explore how those early social dynamics influence you now.

Seeing Adrian and his Dentures:
Adrian, who represents a close friend of your boyfriend, showing you his dentures could be symbolic of vulnerability. Dentures in Jungian analysis might represent losing a sense of identity or appearance, an anxiety about growing older, or the fragility of outward appearances. The fact that you both share a humorous exchange about it may indicate your ability to confront difficult or awkward situations with humor, which helps you maintain emotional balance. When Adrian expresses surprise that you cry a lot because your eyelashes are long, it shows how others might see you as composed or strong (long eyelashes = a symbol of beauty), even if internally you experience deeper emotional currents. This reflects the tension between your outward appearance and inner emotional world.

The Question ‘Am I a Baddie?”:
Asking Adrian if you’re a "baddie" could signify your exploration of your self-image, self-worth, and the part of you that seeks validation or affirmation. In Jungian terms, this could reflect the shadow—parts of yourself that are not fully integrated into your conscious personality but are seeking expression. You might be negotiating how you see yourself versus how others perceive you.

Feedback on Joke:
Giving Adrian feedback on his joke can represent your critical, analytical side—the aspect of you that refines ideas and expressions, which is likely linked to your creative work as a designer. It also reflects your comfort in offering constructive criticism, even in lighthearted contexts, showing a balance between playfulness and seriousness.

Overall Interpretation:
The dream shows a merging of childhood and adult experiences, symbolizing the ongoing integration of your younger self into your current adult identity. Your abilities and feelings from childhood (e.g., being great at swimming) are still influencing who you are today. The dream indicates you may be grappling with feelings of vulnerability (crying, Adrian's dentures) while also seeking to affirm your inner strength and confidence (asking if you're a "baddie"). The ballet and the feedback on the joke highlight your artistic sensibilities and the desire to refine your craft and express yourself authentically. The presence of childhood crushes and friends reflects the ongoing influence of past relationships on your present life. You may be processing unresolved emotions or reconnecting with early patterns of connection. In summary, this dream reflects your journey of personal integration, where you are blending the innocence and playfulness of childhood with the aspirations and challenges of adulthood, all while navigating relationships, identity, and your emotional world.
